January Recap and Feb/March Focus:

Students kicked off the new year by learning about a new rhythm: Sixteenth notes. Students learned new folk songs to play on instruments such as "Dinah" as well as to play games to, like "Can't Dance Josie." Students practiced reading, writing, and creating with this new rhythm, and just recently took a dictation quiz, on which they did wonderfully!

 

Perhaps the most anticipated musical event is just around the corner, though: recorders! Students just received recorders this past week after demonstrating their knowledge of note names on the treble staff. Much of March and April will be spent perfecting recorder skills!
